Understanding your motorcycle kill switch

How does a motorcycle kill switch work

You can use the kill switch outside of emergencies as well. It allows riders to turn the bike off without needing to reach for the key to help save time and fuel. 

A common question we get asked is what happens if you kill the ignition by hitting the switch while riding. If you’re in gear and the clutch is engaged but you hit the switch, the engine and transmission will continue to turn along with the wheels until you come to a slow stop. The engine however won’t be producing power, so the tone of it will change. If you use it while in motion and then turn the bike back on, you could make a loud bang caused by the extra fuel in the cylinder exploding in the exhaust.
